The façade restoration program was developed in the early 1990s to protect and elevate the visual impact of the Penn-Liberty historic district. A total of fifty-one buildings were eligible for façade restoration grants in cooperation with The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
To date, 17 buildings have been restored (please see the list below) and the Trust is currently seeking additional funding for this program.
