The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has led the ongoing development of an exemplary arts and entertainment district in downtown Pittsburgh since its inception in 1984. Pittsburgh's 14-block Cultural District is now a nationally renowned model of cultural and economic collaboration and has received increasing attention by national media sources.

The Trust's dual mission is: to boost regional economy and quality of life by facilitating the development of the downtown Cultural District.

The Trust's multiple roles include:

Owner and operator of the Benedum Center, Byham, O'Reilly, Harris Theaters, Cabaret at Theater Square, SPACE and Wood Street Galleries, etc.
Facilitator of commercial and residential development in the Cultural District
Presenter of performances, exhibits and other entertainment events
Curator of public art and District design
Marketing of the Cultural District as a destination
