Box Office at Theater Square

For the first time in Cultural District history, patrons may purchase tickets to all District performances, regardless of venue or presenting organization, at the Box Office at Theater Square.

Café Zao

The latest restaurant from acclaimed Pittsburgh Chef of the Year Toni Pais, featuring Portuguese cross-cultural cuisine, is open for lunch and dinner. The restaurant's sophisticated ambience and menu attract patrons from across the region.

Cabaret at Theater Square

As the newest performance venue in the Cultural District, the intimate, 265-seat Cabaret at Theater Square is the spot for a great night out. The Pittsburgh CLO is currently presenting an extended run of the, Shear Madness. The Cabaret Theater and adjacent Backstage Bar also features Late Night Cabaret entertainment, live music, great food and specialty drinks.

Offering a full bar with signature drinks, scrumptious desserts, and a convenient location in the heart of the Cultural District, The Cabaret Lounge at Theatre Square is the place to be before a concert, after a show, or to just gather with friends. Plus, you never know who might drop by!

Carolyn M. Byham WQED fm89.3 Studio

While in the Cultural District, be sure to visit the Carolyn M. Byham WQED fm89.3 Studio, located at Theater Square, overlooking Katz Plaza. Wave to the on-air DJ before or after a show, Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7pm to midnight!

The Parking Garage at Theater Square

The Trust now provides guaranteed parking at the Theater Square Parking Garage to Cultural District visitors! When you see a performance, visit a gallery or dine in one of the District's fine restaurants, you may purchase a voucher for $7.00 to guarantee parking in the garage.

Theater Square Facts

  • Designed by Michael Graves and Pittsburgh-based WTW Architects, the facility cost approximately $33 million. Mascaro Construction Company served as the general contractor of Theater Square. For the Cabaret, L.D. Astorino Firm served as the architect, and Oxford Development provided project management. Rycon Construction served as the general contractor of Café Zao.
  • The completion of Theater Square and the Cabaret at Theater Square was made possible by the generosity of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Allegheny Regional Asset District, City of Pittsburgh, Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, Eden Hall Foundation, Howard Heinz Endowment, Pittsburgh CLO and donors of the Campaign for a Dynamic Downtown.
  • Theater Square has nine floors and measures 330,000 square feet.
  • Opened April 2003, the Garage at Theater Square provides the District with 790 convenient parking spaces. ALCO Parking Corporation manages the 24-hour facility.
  • Since September 2003, arts patrons have been able to purchase tickets to any performance at the Benedum Center, Byham Theater, O'Reilly Theater and Pittsburgh Symphony Heinz Hall at The Box Office at Theater Square—a first in Cultural District history.
  • The Carolyn M. Byham WQED 89.3fm remote studio, which opened in the fall of 2003, broadcasts live interviews and performances from the heart of the Cultural District.
  • Opened March 2004, Café Zao—a 75-seat restaurant managed by Pittsburgh Chef of the Year, Toni Pais—serves Portuguese cuisine with cross-cultural influences from around the world.
  • As the newest performance venue in the Cultural District, the intimate, 253-seat Cabaret at Theater Square is programmed year-round by the Pittsburgh CLO.
  • In addition to its regular programming, the Cabaret will provide live entertainment, beginning as late as 10 p.m. in both the Cabaret Theater and in the Cabaret's beautiful Backstage Bar.
